TeamSport Docklands sits on the south bank of the Thames in Charlton, right beside the Thames Barrier and between Greenwich and Woolwich. Despite the Docklands name, it is a South East London venue rather than an East London one. It pairs one of the longest indoor kart circuits in the city with a nine-hole motorsport-themed mini golf course, which makes it one of the few karting venues in London where a group can split off and do something else without leaving the building.

The circuit runs 800 metres across multiple levels, with nine corners, long straights and sweeping elevation changes. Karts reach up to 45mph. The extra length compared with a typical indoor track means more time to build momentum and more room to overtake, which suits confident drivers and makes the racing less congested for beginners. It is one of the largest indoor layouts in London.

Docklands runs a fully electric fleet. Adults drive Biz EcoVolt GT karts with a 45Nm brushless motor, adjustable seats and pedals and a track management system. Younger drivers use Biz EcoVolt Junior karts with a 25Nm motor, adjustable steering wheel and remote shutdown and speed control, so staff can slow or stop a kart from trackside. Junior karts are capped at 25mph and adult karts reach 45mph. Being electric, there are no exhaust fumes in the building.

Karting starts at age 8, with a minimum inside leg measurement of 25 inches taken from crotch to heel with shoes on. There is no maximum height for the junior karts, but drivers must be under 5ft 4in to be controlled safely in them. Adult karts require a minimum age of 13 and an inside leg of at least 29 inches. Mini golf is open from age 5. Anyone booking for a child near a measurement should check before travelling rather than at reception.

The Ultimate Race Experience is open from age 8 and gives two sessions on the main track, with a pit lane start and the fastest lap taking the win. The Grand Prix is a full motorsport format for ages 16 and over with a minimum of six drivers, running a qualifying session followed by a grid start and finishing with a podium presentation. Drive and Putt combines two karting sessions with unlimited mini golf across a two to three hour visit. Corporate days, stag and hen groups, birthday parties and large group bookings are all handled through the events team, and podium presentations can be upgraded with medals, trophies or branded caps.

The nine-hole indoor course is motorsport-themed, with racing-inspired obstacles and a different challenge at each hole. Play is unlimited within a session, so groups can replay holes or go round several times. A single round takes roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Putters, balls, scorecards and pencils are provided. Standard sessions take up to twelve guests, with larger groups arranged through the events team. Party packages add a branded golf ball, and the Pro package a visor as well, with a free return voucher for the birthday child. A family option covers four players including at least one adult.

Comfortable clothing and trainers work best for both activities. Race suits, gloves and helmets are provided for karting, along with a safety briefing. A balaclava is required and can be bought at the venue for £3.99 if you do not have one. Shoes must cover the whole foot for karting and for mini golf, so open-toed shoes, sandals and Crocs are not permitted. Long hair needs tying up and tucking into the race suit, and scarves, sashes and jewellery must be removed before racing.

Spectating is free and requires no booking — anyone of any age can turn up and watch from the bar areas, and the track has dedicated spectating areas. There is plenty of space around the mini golf course to follow a group’s round with easy access to the bar. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over and cannot be left unattended while a parent or guardian is on the track. The Bar and Kitchen serves burgers, pizzas, hot dogs and light bites, with waffles and other desserts.

There is free parking directly outside the venue, and disabled parking close to the entrance. TeamSport recommends public transport where possible because traffic through Central and South East London can add considerably to a journey. Buses 161, 177, 180, 472 and N1 stop on Woolwich Road, around a fifteen-minute walk away. Charlton and Woolwich Dockyard are the nearest railway stations, both within a thirty-minute walk, with Charlton the recommended stop. North Greenwich is the closest Underground station, also about thirty minutes on foot or a short taxi. Karting drivers should arrive 40 minutes before their drive time, and booking ahead is recommended, particularly at weekends. Pool tables and arcade machines are available at the venue but cannot be reserved online.
