About Omescape VR Aldgate
Omescape VR Aldgate is the operator’s flagship London site, on the first floor of a building on Greenfield Road in Whitechapel, a short walk from Aldgate East. It is one of two Omescape sites in the city, the other being at Southbank. Everything here runs on free-roam virtual reality: there are no physical sets, no props and no padlocks, and the venue confirms it does not run traditional escape rooms at all. Players wear wireless headsets and haptic vests and walk through the virtual space on foot, side by side with the rest of their group.

Age Requirements
Escape rooms and shooting games at Omescape are open to players aged 11 and over. The venue also runs two mixed-game packages, Hero Zone and Vex Play, which admit younger children, but it publishes conflicting minimum ages for them across different pages, so anyone booking for a child under 11 should confirm the age limit with the venue directly. Family packages are sold for one to three adults with up to four children, with a maximum child age of 13.
What Free-Roam VR Means Here
Free-roam means players physically walk, run and dodge around a tracked arena rather than standing still and moving with a joystick. There are no cables or backpacks. The venue notes that this format makes motion sickness unlikely, because there is no mismatch between what a player sees and what their body is doing — the usual cause of discomfort in seated VR. Players can see and reach each other inside the virtual space, so groups genuinely play together rather than alongside each other.
The Games
The Aldgate page names Eclipse, Jumpers, Ascenders and Huxley among its VR escape rooms, and Arizona Sunshine, After the Fall and Ghost Patrol among its shooting titles. The wider library extends to laser tag, virtual archery and a set of shorter mini-games bundled into the Hero Zone and Vex Play packages. Difficulty is rated on each game page, and the venue suggests Ascenders as a starting point for anyone new to VR.
Session Lengths
Shooting games run 30 to 40 minutes, escape rooms 40 to 50 minutes, and Hero Zone or Vex Play sessions 40 minutes. Each is preceded by a ten-minute briefing. Groups wanting longer can book back-to-back sessions in the same or a different experience, and the venue says it may discount multiple bookings made for the same day.
Group Sizes
Standalone escape rooms and shooting games take 2 to 12 players, in up to three teams of four. Hero Zone and Vex Play take 2 to 18, in up to three teams of six. This matters for small bookings: a pair booking a standalone game will be paired with another pair to make four, so a group that wants the session to itself needs to book three or more players — or five or more for Hero Zone and Vex Play.
Parties and Corporate Events
The venue takes team-building days, work socials, stag and hen groups, birthday parties and family bookings, with the large-capacity games built for up to 18 players across competing teams. Prices are not published on the site; the venue asks groups to enquire directly for rates and availability, including family group rates and birthday party pricing.
Booking and Arriving
Booking is online, and the venue asks players to arrive 15 minutes before the session to check in and meet their game master. A booking secures a date, time, group size and experience category rather than a specific game — the exact title can be chosen at checkout, left open and decided on arrival, or changed later. There is a ten-minute grace period for late arrivals, after which a session may be shortened or rescheduled for a fee. Walk-ins are sometimes possible but the venue recommends calling first.
Planning Your Visit
Sportswear works best: light layers, breathable fabric and shoes with grip. Accessories are better left at home, and food and drink cannot be taken into the VR area, so it is worth eating beforehand. Glasses fit inside the headsets, though the venue suggests contact lenses where possible. Anyone pregnant is asked to contact the venue first, since games vary in intensity and theme. Players who are drunk or under the influence of drugs will be refused entry without a refund. The site is a few minutes from Brick Lane and within walking distance of the Tower of London, so it works as part of a longer day out.
