Escape London Whitechapel

Details to know:

Who Can Play

The minimum age for most rooms is 10. Two rooms carry higher age limits: Project A is strictly 14 and over, and Taken II is 12 and over. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a participating adult — spectating from outside is not the arrangement, because every game is a private booking for one group. Teams run from two to six players across most rooms, with Mayan Temple capped at four. Groups larger than a single room can book multiple rooms simultaneously and play side by side.

The Six Rooms

Witchcraft and Wizardry: two to six players, difficulty 5 out of 5, minimum age 10. A professor has trapped the group in his study; retrieve the stolen wand before all magic is drained. Casino Heist: two to six, 5 out of 5, age 10+. Security cameras are down for an hour — break into the vault and get out before the guards arrive. Taken II: two to six, 5 out of 5, age 12+. A psychological thriller sequel rated as the venue's darkest room. Project A: two to five, 4 out of 5, age 14+. A sci-fi horror in which the group must shut down a psychic experiment before it destroys everything. Pirates' Fortune: two to five, 4 out of 5, age 10+. A swashbuckling treasure hunt across the Seven Seas. Mayan Temple: two to four, 4 out of 5, age 10+. An ancient temple with puzzles drawn from Mesoamerican myth.

Choosing a Room

The venue recommends Pirates' Fortune and Mayan Temple as the best entry points for first-timers, families and less experienced players. Both are rated 4 out of 5 rather than 5, and neither carries a fear element. Witchcraft and Wizardry is described as the hardest room at the venue, rated 5 out of 5, and Casino Heist and Taken II are positioned alongside it as expert-level experiences. Project A and Taken II are the venue's horror-adjacent rooms — Project A for sci-fi tension, Taken II for psychological intensity — and the venue advises against both for anyone sensitive to horror themes.

How a Visit Works

Every room runs for 60 minutes of game time. The venue advises allowing around 90 minutes for the full experience including check-in, the pre-game briefing and a post-game debrief with photographs. A game host runs the briefing, follows the team through the game and provides clues if the group gets stuck. Guests are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, because if a group arrives late the timer still begins at the booked time.

Every Game Is Private

Every booking is a private game. Groups are never mixed with strangers. Larger parties that book multiple rooms play at the same time on adjacent rooms rather than being combined, which at a six-room venue allows a group of up to 36 people to play simultaneously in separate teams and then compare scores afterwards.

Accessibility

The venue has a wheelchair accessible entrance and an accessible toilet, but none of the six escape rooms is wheelchair accessible. Guests who require further detail or have other mobility, sensory or additional needs are asked to contact the operator before booking to confirm what can be arranged. The accessible entrance and toilet are specific to this venue; the operator's Shepherd's Bush site is not step-free at all, while its Hammersmith and Islington venues do have wheelchair accessible rooms.

Groups, Birthdays and Occasions

The venue hosts birthday parties, kids' parties, stag and hen groups, school trips and corporate team-building. The branch FAQ confirms that multiple rooms can be booked simultaneously for larger groups, and the operator's social events page lists Whitechapel as accepting up to 18 players across three rooms — Witchcraft and Wizardry, Pirates' Fortune and Taken II — for party packages that include pizza, soft drinks, decorations and 45 minutes of post-game celebration time. Gift vouchers are sold online and redeemable at this venue.

Corporate and Team Building

The venue is popular for corporate events. The operator's packages run from a classic 60-minute private game with team photos from £28 per player including VAT on weekdays, through a one-hour-45 experience with pizza and drinks at £55, to a three-hour package with two games at £90. Custom events up to 120 people across multiple venues are also available. Invoice payment is available for corporate bookings. These are operator-wide rates rather than figures published specifically for this venue.

Getting there

The venue is at 412 Commercial Road in Whitechapel, E1. Shadwell Overground and DLR station is the closest major connection and is a short walk from the venue. From Whitechapel station, the venue is reached by travelling east along Whitechapel Road and Commercial Road towards Limehouse. Multiple bus routes run along Commercial Road with stops nearby. The venue describes on-site parking as not available, pointing visitors to limited paid parking in surrounding streets.

Booking and Contact

Booking is online through the operator's Resova reservation system, with this venue booked separately from the other three. Telephone lines are open daily from 09:30 to 21:30 for existing bookings, venue questions and larger group enquiries. Corporate, school and party bookings are arranged by email. The number shown is the operator's central line; no venue-direct number is published.
